Nonprofit Collaboration At Its Best
“Who is our brother’s keeper?” That was a question posed by our Executive Director, Liz Clasen-Kelly, at the renovation groundbreaking ceremony for the North Tryon Street Shelter. Colin Pinkney and Matt Daniels, from The Harvest Center of Charlotte, were in attendance that day, and were moved.
“Liz’s question really struck me,” reflected Matt. “The Harvest Center is trying to answer a small portion of that call to be our “brother’s keeper. These are guys that we might never see or meet, that may or may not come through our program, but it’s the right thing to do.”
And, answer that call they did! With our kitchen closed during the four-month renovation, The Harvest Center shares their resources and volunteers to assemble bag lunches, for our guests. Most recently, they invited men in our employment program to be a part of their ServSafe® Certification, a food and beverage safety training and certificate program that enhances one’s employability in the food service industry.
