Another VISTA Joins Team MSC
The Men’s Shelter of Charlotte is excited to welcome Daniel Crow, our newest AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) member! Daniel comes to us with years of teaching experience from Wisconsin, and a Ph.D. in philosophy. He is also in the process of pursuing his Master’s in Counseling.
As our Housing Infrastructure VISTA, Daniel will work to improve our programs, systems, and infrastructure around housing services and volunteers. Specifically, Daniel will develop volunteer opportunities around housing and housing services, improve our data collection system for how we track housing successes, develop a guest resource guidebook to streamline intakes, and organize housing blitzes to provide guests with housing resources.
Right now, Daniel’s favorite part of service is building comradery with the other VISTAs and being able to “wear many hats” in his role. When asked to describe one thing he’s learned since coming to the Men’s Shelter, Daniel cited the absence of affordable housing in Charlotte, and how the overall lack of affordable housing creates a fundamental problem for both guests and volunteers that work with our guests around housing. Give a warm welcome to Daniel as he embarks on a transformative year of service with us!
