To honor the legacy of Brian Scott, former Men's Shelter of Charlotte Board Chair, the agency established the Brian Scott Outstanding Achievement Award in 2011.
With this award, Men's Shelter of Charlotte pays tribute to Brian's interest in homelessness and education by recognizing a student in our on-site GED program offered in partnership with Central Piedmont Community College. To be considered for this award, a student must be homeless and actively staying at the Men's Shelter of Charlotte. The recipient of this award must also demonstrate a commitment to self-improvement, motivation to learn, and achievement in the classroom.
Along with recognition for his outstanding achievement, the student will receive a housing scholarship to be used when moving from the shelter into more appropriate housing.
The 2011 recipient of this award is Michael F.
