Frank is a committed volunteer who spends considerable time in our shelter working one-on-one with men who are trying to improve their lives. He approached the shelter feeling compelled to do something that will make a difference in the life of at least one man, but he has done so much more. After volunteering for a while in our computer lab, he felt restless and wanted to be more involved, so he began attending our evening GED classes to assist the teacher.

I think today, Eleanor, our wonderful teacher from CPCC, would consider him more of a co-teacher than a volunteer or tutor. We certainly appreciate that he contributes financially to the Men’s Shelter and that he promotes our cause with friends and colleagues. But most importantly, we appreciate that he has committed his time to help the men we serve better themselves through education.

Frank has worked diligently to see our Ten Year Plan to End Homelessness be created and now come to life. Among his more public contributions have been compelling opinion articles in the local newspaper that helped explain complicated homeless and housing issues in plain language. He works behind the scenes to promote many good ideas and causes – the MSC merger, the new domestic violence shelter, Moore Place, and Dove’s Nest to name a few. In other words, his approach has been very balanced – where there is a need and a good plan to address that need, he will lend his voice to help the homeless in our community.
